Today’s update is short but still pretty cool, and will hopefully lead to even more related cool things over the weekend. Now you can export your weblog completely! You’ll see a new export button on your Weblog screen, and clicking that will serve up an archive consisting of:
- A special directory (named with an underscore and your weblog address) which contains:
- A meta directory containing your configuration file and template
- A source directory containing all of your original source files
- A fully-generated version of your site that’s suitable for hosting on just about any web server
This export process isn’t quite perfect yet (there are some issues to iron out with a few links), but it’s pretty solid at this point.
In addition, you can now route your omg.lol address and external addresses to your weblog via the Switchboard. I don’t actually recommend doing this yet (it’s a pre-pre-alpha, after all), but for those of you who are comfortable living on the bleeding edge, the option is now there. As with the export process, there are a few kinks to work out with links, and there also needs to be a way to define your canonical site URL in your weblog configuration, but we’ll get there soon.
That’s all for now! As always, let me know if you run into any issues (bug reports on GitHub are always helpful). See you again tomorrow, behind yet another door.
